The Pavilions Phuket Hotel – Near Layan Beach, Ocean View Pool Villa & Honeymoon

I spent two nights and three days at The Pavilions Phuket.

This was already my second month-long stay in Phuket, so I thought I knew its resort areas quite well.

I knew Patong, Kata, and Karon, of course. But had I heard much about the Bang Tao and Laguna area before this trip? Surprisingly, no.

It is roughly a 30-minute drive north of Patong and closer to the airport, which can save valuable travel time. The area also feels well maintained, quiet, and pleasantly orderly.

If you are looking for a Phuket pool villa for your honeymoon, I would certainly consider this part of the island. It has a more secluded and refined atmosphere than the Phuket I was most familiar with.

A Five-Star Hillside Resort

The name may be new to you, as it was to me, but the resort has long been popular with couples and honeymooners. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that this was a place designed for a quieter kind of escape.

The lobby has an elegant Thai character. It felt peaceful rather than busy, with none of the constant movement I associate with large hotels receiving tour groups.

Check-in was conducted while we were seated, so there was no need to stand and wait at a counter. A welcome drink and flowers were brought over, allowing us to settle in and begin our stay at an unhurried pace.

The resort consists of suites and villas, which adds to its intimate atmosphere. Even in the shared spaces, I rarely felt surrounded by other guests.

One-Bedroom Ocean View Pool Villa

An ocean view is one of the pleasures I look for in a tropical getaway. Our Ocean View Pool Villa delivered exactly that.

Set high on the hillside, the villa looked out over the sea and the landscape below. I could enjoy the view even while lying in bed. It felt wonderfully close to the coast, although the villa itself was tucked away above it.

When I first stepped inside, I was genuinely surprised. The Pavilions Phuket looked appealing in the photographs, but our villa was considerably more impressive in person.

Everything felt clean and contemporary. I noticed none of the tired finishes or dated details that can sometimes appear at an established resort. The villa had the polished feel of a modern luxury retreat.

The living room was exceptionally spacious, and the sofa was large enough to lie down on comfortably. I liked it so much that I briefly wished I could bring it home.

The bathroom seemed almost as large as my living room at home. Its beautiful, oversized bathtub was perfect for a long, relaxing soak, and bath salts were provided as well.

Private Infinity Pool and Floating Breakfast

The private infinity pool was the highlight of our villa.

With the sea beyond it, this was the pool villa experience I had hoped for. The pool itself was remarkably generous in size—far more substantial than the small plunge pools sometimes found in villas for two. There was enough space to enjoy a proper swim.

Breakfast could be taken at the main restaurant, but we chose to arrange a floating breakfast in our villa for one morning. It needed to be requested a day in advance.

We booked it for 9:30 a.m., and the team arrived right on time. They arranged the breakfast, placed it beautifully on the water, and left us to enjoy the morning in private.

Naturally, we took plenty of photographs. If you have been hoping for that quintessential floating-breakfast moment in Phuket, I would arrange it during your stay.

At check-in, we were also shown how to download the resort app and send requests through its chat function, which made organizing the breakfast easy.

Firefly Pool and Breakfast

The main restaurant and pool sit farther down the hillside, and we took a buggy to reach them.

The atmosphere here was quite different from our villa. Up above, we had open views towards the sea; beside the main pool, we were surrounded by greenery. It almost reminded me of Ubud in Bali.

I loved being able to enjoy both settings within one resort.

Breakfast was served beside the pool, with a combination of buffet selections and dishes ordered from the menu. We ordered noodles and eggs à la carte, then helped ourselves to pastries and salad from the buffet.

It became a wonderfully generous breakfast. By lunchtime, I still was not particularly hungry.

There were relatively few guests around, so breakfast never felt crowded or rushed. We could take our time over the food and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

The staff were consistently kind, too. Their relaxed, attentive manner made the stay feel all the more restorative.

Would I Recommend It for a Honeymoon?

There are many well-known resorts and international hotel brands around this part of Phuket. Exploring the area reminded me that, even after spending so much time on the island, there are still places I have yet to discover.

The Pavilions Phuket opened in 2006, so it is hardly a newcomer. Renovation work took place in 2023, and the villa we stayed in felt fresh, modern, and beautifully maintained.

I only wish I had discovered it sooner.

If you are choosing a Phuket pool villa for a honeymoon—or simply want a quiet stay with a spacious private pool and a beautiful sea view—The Pavilions Phuket is one I would gladly recommend.
