Pattaya was one of the places I most looked forward to during my travels around Thailand. I wanted time by the sea, a few swims, and the freedom to enjoy a resort without feeling obliged to spend every day sightseeing.
For this, my third visit to the city, I spent three nights and four days at Dusit Thani Pattaya Hotel.
lthough its name says “hotel,” the expansive gardens and oceanfront setting gave it the feel of a resort. There was plenty to enjoy within the grounds, with the convenience of Beach Road just outside.

Location: Beach Road and an Easy Walk to Terminal 21
Having visited Pattaya before, I knew how much location could influence a stay. Getting around can be less convenient away from Beach Road, particularly when you want to step out for a meal or exchange money without arranging transport.
Here, the beach was right in front of the property, and restaurants, bars, and currency exchange shops were within easy walking distance. Terminal 21, a large shopping mall, was approximately 800 metres from the hotel entrance – around a ten-minute walk.
The location made it easy to enjoy a beachfront resort while keeping everyday conveniences close by. Even without club lounge access, there were plenty of dining options nearby, so going out for dinner never needed to become a complicated excursion.

Club Grand King: A Spacious Room with an Ocean View
My Club Grand King room at Dusit Thani Pattaya Hotel was a highlight of the stay. A standard room would be perfectly reasonable for a sightseeing trip, but if you plan to spend more time enjoying the property, I would consider a club room.
Club guests could check in at the lounge, and the elevated setting offered sweeping views across the bay. For me, the ocean view was one of the most rewarding parts of the room. Sitting with a coffee and looking out over the water made even a quiet moment indoors feel like part of the holiday.
The room was exceptionally spacious, with distinctive decor and ample room to move around. The bedding and furnishings felt thoughtfully chosen, adding to the overall sense of comfort.
The terrace had sun loungers and an outdoor shower, making it a lovely place to spend some time in the sunshine. I took the opportunity to relax there and returned home with a little more colour than I had arrived with.
The long bathroom had double washbasins, a separate shower, and a separate toilet area. A large, round bathtub was particularly inviting for a leisurely soak. The fragrant spa-brand toiletries added another small pleasure to the daily routine.
Part of an established international hospitality group with Thai roots, the property felt well put together. In the room, that impression came through in the details as much as in the generous space.

Breakfast Beside a Tropical Garden and Waterfall
One of the most memorable features of the hotel was its central atrium. As I entered the lobby, a lush tropical garden and a tall indoor waterfall came into view, giving the space the atmosphere of a greenhouse.
The waterfall extended through the height of the atrium, and the planting softened what might otherwise have been a rather plain interior. It reminded me a little of the indoor gardens at Singapore’s airport.
Breakfast was served beside this garden, with the sound of falling water in the background. The tropical setting made breakfast feel like an experience in its own right.
The buffet offered a broad selection of pastries and baked goods, Thai dishes, egg options, and hot noodle soup. I was also pleasantly surprised to find gimbap, a familiar choice for Korean guests. Between the different dishes, it was easy to have a substantial breakfast, filling enough to keep me going well into the afternoon.
The restaurant became busy early. Many guests seemed to be eating before heading out on tours, and I found myself doing the same: one morning, I had breakfast before leaving for Coral Island, while the following day began with a round of golf. The mornings were busier than I had imagined for a resort stay, but each day brought something enjoyable.
An Afternoon Meal at the Atrium Restaurant
The same restaurant also served à la carte dishes later in the day, including pizza and pasta. The tom yum pizza was a particular favourite of mine, bringing familiar Thai flavours to a rather different format. If you enjoy tom yum, it is something I would recommend trying.

Club Lounge: Afternoon Tea and Evening Happy Hour
Club lounge access gave the stay a comfortable rhythm. From morning refreshments to evening happy hour, there was somewhere to pause between outings without having to leave the resort.
The lounge’s high-floor setting was a major part of its appeal. In the afternoon, I could enjoy afternoon tea, coffee, and light refreshments—an inviting way to unwind after a morning excursion. Looking out over the sea with a cup of tea made it easy to linger.
In the evening, I enjoyed a beer alongside the happy-hour food selection. There were several dishes to choose from, and I found the offering sufficient for a light dinner. If you enjoy spending unhurried time at a resort, the club lounge is worth considering when choosing your room.
For me, it was especially useful on days when I wanted to settle in after sightseeing. Between the room, the pools, and the lounge, I could comfortably spend the rest of the day within the property.

Resort Pools: More to Explore Than I First Expected
The swimming pools at Dusit Thani Pattaya Hotel were another pleasant surprise. At first, I thought the large main pool by the beach was the extent of the pool facilities. From the lounge, I could see it alongside the shallower children’s pool, with sun loungers arranged near the beachfront.
Then I explored farther into the grounds and discovered the Lagoon Pool. It was much longer and wider than I had expected; the pool area felt almost twice as extensive as my first impression had suggested.
There were bubbling whirlpool areas to enjoy, too, with sea views adding to the setting. Between swimming, relaxing on a lounger, and spending time by the water, there was more to do than I had allowed for in my itinerary.
I also noticed many families staying at the resort. The shallow children’s pool and the variety of swimming areas made it easy to understand the appeal for guests travelling with children.
Even by the end of my stay, I felt I had not had enough time to enjoy everything. I would leave more of the itinerary open on a return visit, simply to enjoy the resort itself. By the end, I was wondering whether a week might have been a better idea.

Final Thoughts
For me, Dusit Thani Pattaya Hotel brought together the things I wanted from this part of the trip: an ocean-view room, inviting pools, a club lounge where I could slow down, and a location that made going out easy.
A two-night stay would offer a taste of the resort, but I would consider staying longer if enjoying the facilities is a priority. My own visit passed surprisingly quickly, particularly with sightseeing taking up some of the time.
The resort you choose can make a real difference to a beach holiday. This was a stay I would happily repeat, with fewer plans and more time by the sea.
