Courtyard by Marriott Bangkok Sukhumvit 20 – Asok BTS Access & Free Tuk-Tuk Shuttle

Hello, I’m SINAE, a travel writer.

Today, I would like to introduce a clean, comfortable four-star hotel in Bangkok that offers excellent value for money.

As much as I would love to stay in luxurious five-star hotels every day, it is not always realistic when traveling for an extended period. Spending a night or two enjoying a luxury hotel can certainly be worthwhile, but when your flight arrives late at night, sometimes all you truly need is somewhere clean to sleep, shower, and rest in a convenient location.

With nightly rates of around $110, Courtyard by Marriott Bangkok Sukhumvit 20 offers a comfortable stay without placing too much pressure on the travel budget.

Searching through countless hotel reviews can be both time-consuming and exhausting. In that case, choosing a reliable four-star property operated by a well-established international brand such as Marriott can be one of the simplest ways to avoid disappointment.

A Safe and Convenient Location in Central Bangkok

Courtyard by Marriott Bangkok Sukhumvit 20 is located in the heart of Bangkok, within walking distance of the BTS.

It takes approximately ten minutes to walk to Asok BTS Station, making it remarkably convenient to reach many of the city’s major attractions.

The Sukhumvit area has become increasingly popular in recent years, but some parts of it can feel slightly removed from Bangkok’s traditional sightseeing districts. For that reason, I ultimately chose this location instead.

The surrounding neighborhood is home to several prestigious hotels, including Hyatt, The St. Regis, and Anantara Siam Bangkok. As it is one of Bangkok’s established hotel districts, the area feels particularly safe and is also removed from the city’s more prominent nightlife zones, making it a suitable choice for families.

I arrived at the hotel in the early hours of the morning, exhausted after the journey, and was warmly welcomed by the front desk team.

At some more affordable hotels, late-night arrivals can occasionally feel as though the staff have only just woken up to assist with check-in. Here, however, I was greeted with a fresh smile and a genuinely pleasant attitude, which I greatly appreciated after such a tiring journey.

Reliable Room Conditions – Not Luxurious, but Exceptionally Clean

I stay at Courtyard by Marriott properties quite frequently while traveling, and the rooms at Courtyard by Marriott Bangkok Sukhumvit 20 carried the familiar sense of consistency I have come to expect from the brand.

Most Courtyard hotels around the world share a relatively similar atmosphere, which is perhaps one of the greatest advantages of choosing an international chain.

The room was not particularly luxurious, but the cleanliness was highly satisfactory, and the modern design immediately gave me the reassuring feeling that this was, indeed, a Courtyard hotel.

The bathroom amenities were also consistent with those commonly provided by the brand worldwide. They carried a refreshing fragrance with subtle notes of mint and green grape, allowing me to shower, unwind, and enjoy a deeply restful night’s sleep.

A Relaxed Breakfast at MoMo Café

Those familiar with international hotel chains may already know that the restaurant names are often the same across properties worldwide.

MoMo Café is one of those names that somehow feels both unfamiliar and strangely familiar at the same time.

As this is a reasonably priced four-star hotel, I honestly did not arrive with particularly high expectations for breakfast. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the overall quality.

There was a generous selection of fruit, along with several varieties of freshly prepared fruit juice, which was an especially welcome detail.

Although this was Thailand rather than Vietnam, I also enjoyed a steaming bowl of rice noodles in the morning. The warm broth felt wonderfully soothing and was an ideal way to settle my stomach before beginning the day.

One of the reasons I appreciate hotel breakfasts in Southeast Asia is the availability of hot dishes and comforting soups. During my travels in Europe, breakfast often leaves me reaching for water because so many of the dishes are dry and bread-based. Experiences like this remind me that Southeast Asian breakfasts simply suit me better.

A bowl of noodles, followed by toast, a cup of coffee, and fresh fruit was all I needed for a perfectly satisfying morning.

After enjoying a filling breakfast, it was time to head out and begin the day’s sightseeing in earnest.

One Evening at the Dinner Buffet

Bangkok is often described as an affordable destination, but once you begin ordering everything you want to try, restaurant bills can become surprisingly expensive.

Because the food and beverage quality at breakfast had been so impressive, and the price of the dinner buffet was also quite reasonable, I decided to spend one evening dining at the buffet on the ground floor.

I was genuinely surprised to find so many of the Thai dishes we had been hoping to try gathered together in one place.

It felt less like an ordinary hotel buffet and more like a proper feast.

Oysters, which are famously expensive in many countries, were available in abundance, along with as many prawns as we wished to enjoy.

There were also bubbling hot-pot dishes, beef steak, and even lamb chops, all of which were prepared to a remarkably satisfying standard.

Among the salads was som tam, Thailand’s traditional green papaya salad, which could be enjoyed almost like kimchi alongside the richer dishes.

Beyond that, there was an extensive variety of seafood, Western dishes, and traditional Thai cuisine. It truly felt like a feast in every sense of the word.

After finishing the main courses, there were still cakes, pastries, and breads waiting at the dessert section. Ending the meal with a slice of cake and a cup of coffee made the evening feel wonderfully complete.

Complimentary Tuk-Tuk Service to the BTS

The hotel also operates a complimentary tuk-tuk service to the nearby BTS station, making transportation even more convenient.

However, as the walk takes only around ten minutes, I personally chose to walk most of the time.

Final Thoughts

Overall, Courtyard by Marriott Bangkok Sukhumvit 20 delivers a level of quality that comfortably exceeds the average for its price category.

Everything is managed according to consistent international standards, making it the kind of hotel where there is relatively little risk of disappointment.

It may not be a property that inspires overwhelming excitement or offers the grandeur of a luxury resort, but as long as expectations remain realistic, it is a dependable choice that delivers exactly what it promises.

In my experience, it offers appropriate value for the price and provides everything required for a comfortable city stay.

One point to keep in mind is the swimming pool. It is located on the ground floor, and while the pool itself is not as small as I had expected, it does not offer a particularly notable view.
