Hello, I’m SINAE, a travel writer who spends much of the year exploring destinations around the world while documenting my experiences through writing and photography.
Bangkok remains one of the most beloved cities in Asia, and it is a destination I return to regularly. Having spent several extended stays here over the years, I continue to appreciate the city’s combination of outstanding food, vibrant culture, and genuine hospitality.
For longer trips, however, I often find myself prioritizing value over luxury. Staying for weeks rather than days naturally changes the way I evaluate hotels. In that category, one property that genuinely exceeded my expectations was Dusit D2 Samyan Bangkok.

An Excellent Location and Strong Value Around the $100 Mark
Dusit D2 Samyan Bangkok is part of the Dusit hotel group, one of Thailand’s most established hospitality brands.
While the brand may not receive the same global attention as Marriott or Hilton, the overall standard felt remarkably competitive. In some respects, I found the consistency and attention to detail even more impressive than what I have occasionally experienced at similarly priced international chains.
The location is particularly convenient. Positioned between the River City area and Lumpini Park, the hotel provides easy access to several parts of Bangkok while still being surrounded by excellent local restaurants and neighborhood dining options.
One feature I appreciated was the complimentary electric tuk-tuk service operated by the hotel.
- Guests can use the shuttle for destinations including:
- River City (with easy connections to IconSiam via the river ferry)
- Central area nearby
- Samyan MRT Station
Reservations can be made through the front desk, or simply requested shortly before departure. During my stay, the service was efficient and reliable, and the electric tuk-tuks themselves felt exceptionally new and well maintained.

Four-Star Rating, Five-Star Room Experience
Over the years, I have spent several months living in Bangkok across multiple trips.
Naturally, that meant staying in a wide range of hotels rather than relying on short-term rentals. At this point, I have probably experienced close to thirty different properties throughout the city.
One comparison immediately came to mind during this stay.
The guest rooms at Dusit D2 Samyan Bangkok felt surprisingly similar to those at the much more expensive Carlton Hotel Bangkok Sukhumvit.
The room size alone creates a very different impression from what many travelers expect from a four-star property. At approximately 30 square meters, the accommodation feels spacious, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed.
Because the hotel opened in 2023, everything still retains a fresh and contemporary atmosphere.
What impressed me most, however, was not the size—it was the level of detail.
Dusit has clearly invested effort into the guest experience. Small conveniences appeared everywhere:
- Individual power outlets beside each side of the bed
- Subtle night lighting near the floor
- Convenient workstation charging points
- Four complimentary bottles of water daily
- Well-planned furniture placement
These may sound like minor details individually, but together they create the feeling of a much more expensive hotel.
The bedding was another pleasant surprise. The linens felt noticeably higher quality than I typically expect at this price point, and honestly compared favorably with some five-star properties I have stayed at in Bangkok.

Dusit Gold Benefits and a Well-Maintained Rooftop Pool
Guests staying at Dusit D2 Samyan Bangkok can take advantage of discounts through the Dusit Gold program.
The name may sound like an elite membership tier, but in reality it is simply Dusit’s loyalty platform. Registration is free, and eligible guests can receive discounts on food and beverage purchases, including restaurants and bakery items, subject to promotional exclusions.
The rooftop swimming pool was another pleasant surprise. I did not expect much given the hotel’s four-star positioning, but the space was clean, attractive, and noticeably quieter than many Bangkok hotel pools.
During several visits, the area was almost empty, creating a peaceful atmosphere despite its relatively modest size.
The rooftop setting also helps considerably. Rather than feeling enclosed by surrounding buildings, the pool enjoys an open-air environment with pleasant city views.
The water quality appeared excellent, and the same floor also houses the fitness center and lounge-style relaxation areas with sofa seating.
Between 3 PM and 5 PM, the hotel operates a happy-hour promotion featuring selected cocktails on a buy-one-get-one basis, which can be a pleasant way to unwind after a day of sightseeing.
The atmosphere changes noticeably after sunset, giving the rooftop a completely different character in the evening.

Breakfast That Deserves to Be Included
Breakfast was one of the strongest aspects of the stay.
The dining room is spacious, and despite seeing a significant number of guests each morning, it never felt crowded or chaotic.
The selection included:
- Hot buffet items
- Fresh bakery products
- Egg station
- Noodle station
- Made-to-order specialties
One unexpected highlight was the availability of Eggs Benedict.
This is something I rarely encounter at four-star hotels, and even some five-star properties charge extra for it.
Another detail I appreciated was the beverage service.
While guests can help themselves, staff members also take drink orders directly at the table and prepare them individually. The service felt attentive without being intrusive.
Each morning also featured a rotating special beverage. During my stay, one of the offerings was a non-alcoholic mojito, which was a refreshing addition to the breakfast experience.
Overall, the breakfast quality exceeded expectations and contributed significantly to the hotel’s overall value.

Final Thoughts
After staying at Dusit D2 Samyan Bangkok, my impression was simple: this hotel consistently delivers more than its four-star classification suggests.
The rooms feel closer to what many travelers would expect from an entry-level five-star property. The location is practical, the service is polished, the breakfast is genuinely strong, and the rooftop facilities are well maintained.
For travelers seeking a modern Bangkok hotel around the USD 100 range without sacrificing comfort, cleanliness, or convenience, Dusit D2 Samyan Bangkok offers one of the better value propositions I have encountered in recent years.
Considering the combination of room quality, location, breakfast, and overall presentation, it is a property I would happily stay at again.
