Even by name alone, The Ritz Carlton Bali conveys a sense of quiet distinction. Within the Marriott portfolio, it represents one of the highest tiers of luxury.
It is not a property most travelers casually select – but for a honeymoon, it feels entirely fitting.
From the moment you arrive, the scale and classical elegance of the lobby set a refined tone. Check-in is conducted while seated, allowing for a calm and unhurried arrival experience. The resort sits on elevated ground, offering naturally beautiful views from the outset.
Beachfront Chapel – A Defining Honeymoon Element
One of the reasons Bali is so often chosen for honeymoons is its beachfront chapels – and The Ritz Carlton Bali features one of the most picturesque settings.
While the resort offers formal wedding programs, the pricing is understandably high. Many couples instead choose a more personal approach, bringing a simple white dress or floral accessories and capturing their own photos.
Even setting up a tripod and taking photos independently creates a quiet, intimate atmosphere.
When I visited, the chapel happened to be open, allowing me to step inside for photos. Whether it is open daily is something I cannot confirm. However, even from the outside, it remains an exceptionally beautiful location.

Pavilion Villa – Pool Access Experience
I stayed in a Pavilion Villa with pool access. Using Marriott Bonvoy Suite Night Awards (SNA), I was upgraded from a standard room to a pool villa. This was during the low season, so it felt more like a fortunate experience rather than something guaranteed.
At The Ritz Carlton Bali, all accommodations are suites, which creates a noticeably quieter and more refined atmosphere compared to many other resorts.
The private pool is not a small enclosed feature – it opens toward lush greenery, offering a sense of Ubud-like tranquility. The layout is spacious and well structured, with the living area, bedroom, and bathroom clearly separated.
The living room includes a sofa bed, and stepping outside leads to a terrace with a table and sunbeds. Directly in front lies the private pool.
One thoughtful detail stood out immediately – upon arrival, the ice bucket was already filled. Small touches like this quietly reflect the level of attention to detail. The room is also equipped with an illy coffee machine.
Bathroom Design – A Standout Feature
The most memorable space within the villa was the bathtub area.
Its design allows direct access to the pool, which is quite distinctive. Natural light fills the space, and with part of the structure open to the outdoors, it creates the feeling of bathing within a forest setting.
There is also a separate indoor shower room, allowing for a more comfortable and flexible experience. It felt closer to a private spa than a standard hotel bathroom.
Breakfast – Service That Feels Elevated
Breakfast is one of the defining experiences at The Ritz Carlton Bali.
After walking through a carefully maintained garden, you arrive at the restaurant. While indoor seating is available, the outdoor terrace offers a more atmospheric setting.
What stands out most is the service approach.
Instead of carrying plates yourself, you simply walk around, place your order, and the staff deliver each dish directly to your table. This removes the need to move back and forth and makes the entire experience feel noticeably more relaxed.
Compared to other luxury resorts, this felt less like standard service and more like a genuinely attentive experience.
The selection ranges from Western dishes to Indonesian specialties, along with a wide variety of fresh juices. There are more options than one could realistically try in a single meal.
Main Pool & Beach – A Quiet Sense of Space
The main infinity pool extends toward the ocean, creating a wide and open atmosphere.
Because many guests stay in pool villas, the main pool remains relatively uncrowded. This allows for a level of calm and privacy that is difficult to find in most hotels. It creates a subtle sense of exclusivity – almost as if the space is yours alone.
In front of the pool, sunbeds and cabanas lead directly to a private beach. Seeing camels walking along the shoreline was unexpected, yet it added to the distinctiveness of the setting. The overall atmosphere closely resembles what many imagine when they think of a tropical resort.
However, one limitation is worth noting: Compared to the overall scale of the resort, the main pool is relatively modest in size. Guests staying in standard suites (rather than villas) may find it slightly less impressive. Among resorts in the Nusa Dua area, it is on the smaller side.
Pricing – Suite vs Pool Villa
Suite rooms are typically priced in the $400 range per night, which is relatively reasonable for this level of brand. Pool villas are generally around $800 per night.
While the suites offer solid value, the difference in experience is significant. For a honeymoon, experiencing the pool villa – even briefly – feels well justified.
Final Perspective
Bali offers many resort options, but The Ritz Carlton Bali provides a balance of privacy, scale, and service that is not easily replicated.
It is not simply a place to stay – it shapes the tone of the entire trip.
For a journey that may only happen once, this level of experience feels entirely appropriate.
