In my previous Bali reviews, I covered a range of properties, from five-star resorts to more luxurious stays. Today, I’m sharing my review of Aloft by Marriott Bali Kuta at Beachwalk, a four-star hotel that offers a more reasonable price point while still delivering the reliability of an international brand.
The Best Part: Excellent Access, Directly Connected to Beachwalk
Just as its name suggests, Aloft by Marriott Bali Kuta at Beachwalk is one of the hotels directly connected to Beachwalk Shopping Center, right in the heart of Kuta Beach. This is easily one of its strongest advantages.
You can move straight into the mall from inside the hotel, and once you cross just one road, you are at Kuta Beach, one of Bali’s most famous local beaches. For travelers coming to Kuta for surfing, this location is especially convenient.
The hotel opened in April 2022, so the overall hardware still feels relatively fresh and well-maintained. It has around 175 rooms, which means it is not an enormous resort-style property. If you are considering staying here during a busy period, it may be better to decide earlier rather than later.

A 4-Star Hotel, But Slightly Pricier Than Similar Chain Hotels
At around $80 per night, Aloft by Marriott Bali Kuta at Beachwalk can feel about 20% more expensive than comparable four-star chain hotels in other areas. That said, the location does a great deal to justify the difference.
The lobby is on the first floor, and it has a stylish, playful design with a compact but well-curated atmosphere. As a welcome gesture, I was given a cute rabbit-shaped ice cream, which was a small detail, but a memorable one. It felt thoughtful rather than excessive, and moments like this are where the consistency of a global Marriott brand becomes noticeable.
Compact Rooms, Efficient Design, and a Pleasant Pool
The room itself was not especially large, but the space was used very efficiently, so it felt more comfortable than the actual size might suggest.
There was also a terrace and a sofa bed inside the room, which made it perfectly sufficient for a two-night, three-day stay.
With some four-star hotels, the swimming pool can feel almost symbolic – technically present, but too small or too underwhelming to use properly. Here, however, the pool was better than expected. There were children enjoying the water, and while the property is not grand in scale, the facilities felt practical and well thought out.
The room was not particularly spacious, but because everything felt clean and relatively new, I found it more pleasant than expected. There was a small sofa, the shower area was separated, and the bathroom was easy to use comfortably.
The amenities, however, were not especially impressive. The shampoo left my hair feeling rather dry, so I would recommend bringing your own hair care products if that matters to you.
Overall, the interior has a youthful, upbeat, and slightly pop-inspired character. It feels casual, energetic, and modern rather than classic or resort-like.
As a Marriott Titanium Elite member, I was upgraded from a standard room to a room with a balcony.
Surprisingly Excellent Breakfast — Almost 5-Star Quality
The biggest surprise of the stay was breakfast.
It was genuinely better than I expected from a four-star hotel. I do not say this lightly, but the breakfast quality was strong enough that it did not feel lacking even compared with some five-star properties in Bali, including resort brands such as Westin.
One detail I especially appreciated was the Balinese coffee service. You could choose Balinese coffee beans, and the staff would grind and brew the coffee fresh on the spot.
In addition, coffee and drinks could be ordered from your table, and the overall taste and presentation were very satisfying. For me, breakfast was one of the defining strengths of this hotel.
Because Beachwalk Shopping Center is right next door, it is technically not inconvenient even if you book a room without breakfast. However, the mall is not necessarily filled with inexpensive or outstanding dining options. It is better understood as a more upscale shopping mall.
For that reason, if the price difference is reasonable, I would suggest booking with breakfast included.
The Most Serious Drawback: Noise from Beachwalk Events
The most significant downside is noise.
Beachwalk Shopping Center hosts events quite frequently, and on weekends in particular, there can be a wide variety of performances or activities. Because the hotel is so close, the convenience also comes with a very real noise issue.
During my stay, the noise was serious enough that it was difficult to rest properly inside the room. At times, it felt more comfortable to simply go outside rather than stay in the room.
For travelers who are sensitive to noise, or for anyone visiting Bali mainly to rest quietly, this may not be the best choice.
Final Thoughts
In short, Aloft by Marriott Bali Kuta at Beachwalk is a property with very clear strengths and equally clear limitations.
The location is excellent, the rooms are clean and efficiently designed, the overall atmosphere is bright and modern, and the breakfast is much better than expected for a four-star hotel.
However, the same location that makes it so convenient also creates a serious noise concern, especially when Beachwalk has events.
For travelers who want easy access to Kuta Beach, Beachwalk Shopping Center, surfing, restaurants, and a lively central location, this hotel can be a very practical choice.
For travelers looking for a peaceful, quiet Bali stay, I would be more cautious.
