Hello, I’m SINAE, a travel writer and photographer who spends much of the year exploring the world.
Of course, if I could choose purely by preference, I would love to stay every day at five-star properties such as Hilton, Marriott, Bulgari, or Ritz-Carlton. But realistically, when you are not spending the entire day inside the resort, and especially when you have tours, beach visits, or outside plans, paying premium resort rates every night can feel a little unnecessary.
There are days when you want to visit Kuta Beach, enjoy seafood in Jimbaran, explore Seminyak, or simply spend most of the day outside. For those travel days, a clean, well-managed four-star hotel with strong value can actually be the more practical and satisfying choice.

Excellent Value, Especially for a Longer Bali Stay
Four Points by Sheraton Bali, Ungasan is located near Jimbaran – more precisely, just above Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park.
At first glance, the location may seem slightly uncertain. Some travelers may wonder whether it feels a little too far from Bali’s main tourist areas. But in reality, Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park is close enough to reach on foot, which made the area surprisingly convenient for sightseeing.
Because there is a major tourist attraction nearby, the surrounding area also has various small shops, money changers, local restaurants, and casual places to eat. Since most outings in Bali require a Grab or taxi anyway, the location did not feel inconvenient to me.
I have also stayed at Four Points near Kuta Beach, and in terms of scale, this property felt at least twice as large. From the lobby alone, the sense of space was much more generous than I expected. Since the nightly rate was in the $60 range, I honestly did not have high expectations. But after staying here, I felt that I would still consider it worthwhile even at roughly double the price.
The hotel opened at the end of 2019, but because it received very few guests during the following three years, the overall condition still feels impressively fresh.
The rooms are also surprisingly spacious, creating an open and airy atmosphere that feels difficult to describe as simply “four-star.” Personally, it felt closer to a 4.5-star property. Compared with Four Points Kuta Beach and Aloft Bali Kuta at Beachwalk, this hotel felt much larger and more resort-like in scale.
As a Marriott-affiliated property, the service and maintenance also felt reliable, which made the stay even more comfortable.
Another major advantage is that restaurants, coffee shops, laundry shops, and other practical conveniences are all within walking distance. I actually stayed here for around 20 days, which is quite a long stay.
Rather than choosing an expensive resort every single night, this is the kind of hotel that works beautifully for arrival days, final nights, or sightseeing-focused days. It is clean, comfortable, practical, and easy to settle into.

Deluxe Bay View Room on a High Floor
At Four Points by Sheraton Bali, Ungasan, I received a high-floor upgrade thanks to my Marriott Titanium Elite benefits.
There are several room types, but the Deluxe Bay View Room offers a lovely sea view from the terrace. Since the hotel is located slightly inland, I honestly did not expect to see the ocean at all. However, because the property sits on a hill, Jimbaran Beach can be seen below from the room.
The room itself was very spacious, with a size that felt comparable to many five-star hotels. The interior also had a pleasant rattan-inspired design, which gave the space a warmer, more resort-like atmosphere.
It did not feel like the typical standardized Four Points room. There were visible design details that made the room feel more thoughtful than expected.
The bathroom had a separate shower area, though I did feel it was a little unfortunate that there was no bathtub. Still, considering the overall condition, size, and price point, the room was genuinely excellent.
For families traveling with children, I would recommend considering a pool access room. Since those rooms are located right beside the swimming pool, they are especially convenient for guests who plan to spend a lot of time in the water.

A Relaxed Breakfast with a Beautiful Resort Atmosphere
The breakfast restaurant was one of the main reasons Four Points by Sheraton Bali, Ungasan made me think, “I would come back here again.”
Some guests choose to sit indoors, but the outdoor terrace view is truly the highlight. From the terrace, you can enjoy a wide, open view down the hillside, and on the right side, the large Garuda statue rises dramatically in the distance.
Having personally visited Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park, I would honestly say that seeing the statue from the hotel terrace may be even more impressive than visiting the park itself.
The breakfast selection is not enormous, but it includes a good mix of Western and local dishes. In the center of the terrace, fresh juice is also served, making breakfast feel simple, pleasant, and satisfying.
Because the hotel is located slightly inland, there were quite a few local package-tour guests during my stay. However, many of them left early in the morning, so if you come down a little later, breakfast becomes much calmer and more relaxed.
For a long stay, being able to enjoy a quiet breakfast every morning with this kind of view felt like a small daily luxury.

Infinity Pool and Main Pool — Two Pools in Total
The infinity pool overlooks Jimbaran Bay and is long enough to swim comfortably while enjoying the scenery.
There is also another large pool on the lower level, so the hotel has two swimming pools in total. With that much space, it is easy to spend an entire day inside the property and still feel like you are having a proper resort-style stay.
If you get hungry, the in-house restaurant is reasonably priced, and if you walk just a little down the road, there are also local restaurants nearby. In that sense, the location was more convenient than I initially expected.
During the afternoon, there were not many guests around the pool, so the atmosphere felt quiet and restorative. In some ways, I actually found it more relaxing than certain expensive five-star resorts.
The overall condition, space, views, and value were strong enough to justify taking a short taxi ride when needed.

Final Thoughts
Four Points by Sheraton Bali, Ungasan is not a flashy luxury resort, but that is exactly why it works so well.
It offers spacious rooms, pleasant views, two swimming pools, a peaceful breakfast terrace, and practical facilities nearby—all at a price point that feels very reasonable for Bali. For travelers who do not need to spend every night at an expensive five-star resort, this hotel is a genuinely smart choice.
It is especially suitable for longer stays, arrival or departure nights, sightseeing-focused days, or travelers who want a clean and comfortable Marriott-affiliated hotel without paying full resort prices every night.
For me, Four Points by Sheraton Bali, Ungasan was one of those stays that quietly exceeded expectations. It may not be the most glamorous hotel in Bali, but it delivered exactly what I needed: comfort, space, convenience, and excellent value.
