Bangkok is widely known as one of the finest cities in the world for hotel stays. Vietnam has certainly become increasingly popular in recent years, but when it comes to service and attention to detail, the difference between Thailand and Vietnam can still feel remarkably significant.
It is not only about the hardware or the physical condition of a hotel. The level of hospitality, the instinctive attentiveness of the staff, and the precision of service all matter deeply. At times, I genuinely find myself wondering whether there is anywhere else in the world that delivers five-star hospitality with this level of consistency.
A Relatively New Hotel Opened in 2024, Connected to a Shopping Mall
Dusit Thani Bangkok officially opened around October 2024, making it a relatively new hotel in the city.
Although its opening spans two calendar years, the property had been operating for only about a year and a half at the time of my stay. Overall, everything still felt clean, polished, and almost entirely new.
The location is another major advantage. The hotel sits right by Lumphini Park and next to BTS Silom, with direct access to the Central Park shopping mall. This makes the overall accessibility exceptionally convenient. It is also only about 400 meters from North East, one of Bangkok’s very well-known local restaurants.
From the moment I entered the lobby, the space felt open and expansive, with an impressive ceiling height and a calm, refined atmosphere. It did not feel crowded or hectic at all, but rather bright, composed, and spacious.
I arrived a little early, around 1 PM, and the team helped me check in as quickly as possible. It was not the kind of check-in experience where you stand in line and wait, as you might often do in Seoul. Instead, the staff took my passport, handled the process for me, and I simply waited comfortably while seated.
From the very beginning, the experience carried the ease and polish of a true luxury hotel.

Deluxe Park View Room – Panoramic Views from Every Room
The hotel has a total of 257 rooms, and one of the best things about the property is that every room comes with a park view. In other words, there is very little risk of being assigned a disappointing view.
Lumphini Park lies directly below, creating a sense of calm that feels almost unexpected in the middle of dense and energetic Bangkok. It felt like a healing pocket of nature within the city, somewhat similar to the feeling of looking out over Central Park in New York.
Of course, if you want a hotel overlooking Central Park in New York, you may easily need to pay around $2,000 per night. This is exactly why Thailand feels so wonderful.
The room itself was approximately 50 square meters, which is quite spacious. Since many five-star hotel rooms start at around 35 square meters, this room felt roughly one and a half times larger than a typical luxury hotel room.
The highlight was undoubtedly the panoramic window. It felt almost like a living artwork framed on the wall. The view changed constantly depending on the weather and the time of day, and it was so beautiful that I did not really feel like going outside.
When you stay at older luxury hotels, even if the property is elegant, you often notice small inconveniences in the layout or room flow. Here, however, everything felt carefully considered.
There were convenient power outlets on both sides of the bed. A Dyson hair dryer was placed inside a drawer, and the outlet was built into the drawer itself, so I did not even need to take the dryer out and leave it on the counter. It kept the room looking extremely clean and uncluttered.
The amenities were from a spa-shop brand, with a refined and luxurious scent. They could also be purchased separately at the spa shop. Even the bath salts were not just simple salts, but herbal-infused bath salts, which made the bath experience feel more thoughtful.
Each day, six Nespresso capsules were replenished, and during turndown service, they filled them up once again. Every small detail reflected a sense of care and attention.
Lumphini Park View Infinity Pool
The infinity pool has a calm and elegant atmosphere. There is a bar on one side, so drinks can be ordered while relaxing by the pool.
It is the kind of pool where you can swim slowly, take your time, and enjoy a proper hotel stay. There were more sunbeds than I expected, placed on both sides, so it did not feel crowded or insufficient.
The pool is also quite long from side to side, and there are sofa beds where you can sit with your feet in the water. The overall mood is modern, luxurious, and very relaxing.
In April, I stayed at Rosewood Hong Kong, which is a high-end hotel costing around $1,000 per night. The atmosphere and overall feeling here reminded me somewhat of Rosewood, but in terms of the pool size and scale, this one actually felt more spacious.
Spire Rooftop Bar
The official name of Spire Rooftop Bar is Spire Rooftop Bar Bangkok. It is located at the very top of Dusit Thani Bangkok.
After transferring elevators at the sky lounge level, you finally arrive at the entrance. I reached the rooftop around 6 PM, before sunset, which meant I could enjoy the daytime view, the sunset, and the evening nightscape all in one visit.
One of the reasons I recommend this rooftop bar in Bangkok is that it offers something different from many others: a direct view of Lumphini Park. You can enjoy both the greenery of the park and the city skyline at the same time, and the balance between nature and urban scenery is genuinely beautiful.
If you go one level higher, you can see the golden spire. This detail carries historical meaning because the original hotel, which opened in 1970, was once one of Bangkok’s landmark hotels. The golden spire was one of its key symbols, and that legacy has been preserved.
Even without knowing the story, the space is beautiful. But once you understand the history and tradition behind it, it becomes even more impressive.
What I personally liked most was the overall atmosphere. It was not loud, chaotic, or club-like with heavy music. Instead, it felt polished and sophisticated, almost like a refined date-night venue.
Breakfast – À La Carte Menu Plus Full Buffet Style
Breakfast here was excellent.
At many luxury hotels, breakfast is often served as an à la carte menu with a semi-buffet. However, at Dusit Thani Bangkok, it did not feel like a semi-buffet at all. It was much closer to a full buffet.
There was Iberico jamón of the kind I have seen at top-tier hotels in Spain, Italian Prosecco sparkling wine, and fresh coconut juice.
The à la carte menu included egg dishes as well as Thai and Asian-style options. There was no strict limit on how many dishes you could order, so breakfast could be enjoyed almost like a generous brunch.
Final Thoughts
I usually stay at five-star hotels from brands such as Marriott and Hilton, but this time, I chose something a little different by staying with the Dusit brand.
Among all Dusit Thani properties around the world, Dusit Thani Bangkok feels like the most luxurious and refined. In terms of hardware and service, it does not feel inferior even when compared with Four Seasons Bangkok. Yet the price is often around half of Four Seasons, so it is easy to understand why the hotel is so popular.
To be honest, before staying here, I did not expect it to feel comparable to luxury hotels such as Four Seasons or Ritz-Carlton. But once I experienced the property myself, I was genuinely surprised by how little it lacked.
The Dusit brand is mainly found in Asian countries, so it may still feel unfamiliar to some travelers. It is a Thai hospitality brand with royal connections, and personally, I found the experience more impressive than Hilton in certain aspects. It is far beyond Radisson in quality, and the service standards felt as carefully managed as what I would expect from Marriott.
If you have not yet experienced a Dusit Thani hotel, I would genuinely recommend trying one. Considering the quality it offers, the rates are often more reasonable than comparable hotels in the same category. For that reason, whenever I find a Dusit property in a destination I am visiting, it is now a brand I feel comfortable choosing with confidence.
