Hello, I’m SINAE. I spend most of the year – nearly 300 days – traveling abroad and writing about my experiences along the way.
Among the many destinations I visit, I have always had a particular preference for tropical resorts. And within that category, the Maldives is often regarded as the ultimate benchmark of luxury escapes.
In a previous post, I shared my experience of arriving at The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort by seaplane and what that journey was like.
In this article, I’ll focus on the resort’s main pool, dining experiences, and the spa.

What Makes the Maldives Unique
One of the most distinctive characteristics of a Maldives resort is that each island typically hosts only one hotel.
That means your choice of resort becomes extremely important. Unlike many other destinations, you generally do not leave the island during your stay. Everything – from dining to activities -takes place within the resort itself.
Because of this, understanding what the resort offers internally is key to planning the experience.
During my stay, I chose a beachfront pool villa. However, the resort also offers the iconic overwater bungalows.
Even the walkways leading toward these villas are breathtaking – scenes that feel almost like artwork. Standing there, I found myself thinking that next time, I would absolutely love to stay in one of those villas as well.
Beachfront pool villas offer the advantage of having a beautiful stretch of emerald beach almost entirely to yourself.
Overwater bungalows, on the other hand, create the sensation of floating above the ocean. They also make snorkeling incredibly convenient, as you can step directly into the water.
Both accommodation types have their own charm. Personally, if someone plans to stay at two different Maldives resorts during one trip, I think a good strategy is to alternate villa types – for example, three nights in a water bungalow and three nights in a beachfront villa.
The resort’s main private beach is breathtakingly beautiful, with a brilliant emerald color that almost seems unreal. It is the kind of scenery that quietly makes you happy just by looking at it.
At least once in a lifetime, experiencing a luxury Maldives resort such as The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort truly feels worthwhile. It is also an exceptionally popular choice for honeymoons.

Main Pool & Crust & Craft
The main pool at The St. Regis Maldives sits just behind the private beach.
Even the color of the pool itself mirrors the surrounding emerald ocean. Interestingly, I almost never saw other guests using it.
Most visitors seem to prefer staying within their private villa pools, which means the main pool often feels completely empty.
If you wish, you can practically enjoy it as if you had reserved the entire pool for yourself.
Simply looking around, the scenery feels almost like a painting. There are countless beautiful photo spots throughout the area.
One of my favorite moments was relaxing in a hammock and taking photos while overlooking the ocean.
Directly in front of the pool is Crust & Craft, the resort’s Italian restaurant. It operates from noon until 5 PM, making it ideal for a relaxed lunch.

Dining at Crust & Craft
If you choose the all-inclusive dining plan, you can typically select:
- one starter
- one main dish
- and a beverage
The price of the individual dishes does not matter – you simply choose whatever you prefer.
In the Maldives, all-inclusive generally means three meals per day: breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Since there are no restaurants outside the resort island, choosing this option can often be the most practical.
Initially, I wondered whether half-board might be sufficient. However, most Maldives resorts – including The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort – either do not offer half-board or the price difference compared with full board is relatively small.
For that reason, selecting an all-inclusive option is often the better value.
Meals at the restaurants usually follow a three-course format: starter, main, and dessert. Non-alcoholic beverages are also included without strict limits.
Pizza, Tacos & a Mojito
One afternoon, I ordered an Italian pizza, tacos, and a mojito.
The pizza is baked in a traditional wood-fired oven, and it was honestly one of the best pizzas I have ever had. The dough itself was wonderfully chewy and flavorful – I even finished the crust without thinking twice.
The restaurant overlooks the ocean, so you can enjoy the meal at an indoor table with a sea view. But another option is to dine beside the pool on a sunbed.I initially started at a table, but after a while I decided it would be more fun to move to a sunbed and continue eating between swims.
A mojito in the Maldives almost feels essential, doesn’t it? I had always imagined that moment – and finally experienced it here. Another small bucket-list moment accomplished.
The tacos we ordered were crispy, with very fresh ingredients. Even though we had eaten a substantial breakfast earlier, everything disappeared surprisingly quickly.
As the saying goes, good scenery is even better when enjoyed with a satisfying meal.

Iridium Spa – A 60-Minute Healing Experience
During a three-night stay, it almost feels impossible not to try the spa. The Iridium Spa at The St. Regis Maldives requires advance reservations.
Inside, the treatment rooms feature glass floors, allowing you to see the ocean directly beneath your feet. It is one of those details you may have seen in photos before, but experiencing it in person feels quite special. The spa itself is designed as a collection of overwater bungalow-style treatment villas. Each room is a private standalone space.
Inside the treatment villa, you’ll find:
- a bathroom
- a dressing area
- the spa bed
- and even a jacuzzi facing the ocean
Before the treatment begins, guests change clothes and participate in a small oil test to check for allergies. After the wrist test, you can select the fragrance you prefer. All oils are handmade and natural. I personally chose lavender, which had a wonderfully calming scent.
Once I lay down on the spa bed, the 60-minute treatment seemed to pass almost instantly. Afterward, my body felt incredibly refreshed. It truly felt like a small moment of heaven.
The overall atmosphere of the spa is bright, clean, and peaceful. When staying at a Maldives resort, a spa experience like this feels almost essential.

The Blue Hole – A Hidden Photo Spot
Inside the spa area, there is a very large infinity pool known as the Blue Hole. Guests can either reserve it privately or use it during shared “join sessions” with other visitors. You simply ask the spa reception upon arrival and choose whichever option you prefer.
I reserved a private session for about 45 minutes, which allowed me to enjoy the space entirely on my own. The pool is much larger than it appears in photos. It also features bubbling jets similar to a jacuzzi, creating a gentle water-massage effect. Because the pool uses seawater, it also contains natural minerals.
And for photography, the setting is absolutely perfect – the photos turn out beautifully. Guests are also served a beautifully presented welcome drink.
If you are staying at The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort, this is definitely an experience worth checking the schedule for. Join sessions are available free of charge, which makes it even easier to enjoy.

A Personal Reflection
One thing that genuinely surprised me during my stay was the occupancy of the resort.
At first, I wondered how many people would realistically stay somewhere that costs nearly $5,000 per night, especially considering that reaching the island also requires a seaplane transfer costing roughly $700–$800 per person. I assumed there might be many empty villas.
Yet even during the off-season, the resort was almost fully booked. What surprised me even more was seeing several guests traveling alone – some staying for five or six nights purely for a personal vacation.
It was a quiet reminder that the world contains far more extraordinary lifestyles than we sometimes imagine. Moments like that subtly expand your perspective. They remind you that there are always worlds beyond the limits of your own assumptions.
In my next post, I’ll introduce several more dining venues at The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort, including:
- ALBA
- Orientale
- T•Pan
- and the famous Whale Bar.
One thing is certain about traveling in the Maldives: no matter where you point the camera, you will find a photo-worthy scene.
So if you visit, come prepared to capture many memorable moments.
